About Us
Faith Baptist Church was established in March 1956. In its 66 years of history, the Church has touched hundreds of lives.
Help us focus on the fact that Faith Baptist Church is not a building, but a group of individual believers joined together in the name of the Lord, Jesus Christ.
We are grateful to see our church as a welcoming space to worship. With plenty of events throughout the year welcoming the community, as well as our regular service. We invite you to worship with us.
A Little Bit of Faith Baptist Church's History
Text taken from Faith Baptist Church "Church Directory" (1972)
" Faith Baptist Church was started in March 1956 in the old Lutheran building in New Burlington, Ohio, on Springdale Road (in the cemetery)
I. MOTHER CHURCH
Woodstation was the mother church, which now is Hanover Baptist Church.
II. MISSION PASTORS
Rev. Paul Nevilles was the first pastor. He left after only two months, then Rev. Ivan Cupp was mission pastor. It grew to three (3) members and three (3) awaiting baptism. Twenty months had come and gone, and Woodstationg felt it could no longer sponsor our mission - now we are without a mother church and pastor.
III. GOD WILL PROVIDE!
The New Bethel Baptist Church of Norwood, Ohio adopted the mission, and Rev. James Sutton Became our pastor December 8, 1957.
God was beginning to bless. We soon moved to the New Burlington old school. Here we had more room that was needed so badly. The School Board decided to make way for the new school that was to be built; yes, you guessed it, we had to move!
In our haste we bought property on Roosevelt Ave. Here we were going to build, but the land was too soft - so we must move again.
IV. PERMANENT MOVE
Once again we find ourselves with no place to meet. So, the church bought an unfinished building at 2542 Grant Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio. We converted it into a place of worship. In our own building we are determined to stay. Bro. Sutton resigned as pastor in June 1961.
V. NEW PASTOR
The church called Rev. Raymond Collier as the new pastor in August, 1961. God blessed "Faith" Baptist Church under Bro, Collier's leadership. The church once again bought property and built a new church building in which the first service was held October 10, 1965. Bro. Collier resigned in December 1967.
NEW PASTOR - The church called Rev. Glenn Jones in February, 1968.
VI. LOOKING back over the records!
